Delete your account
Last updated 2026-05-20
You can delete your nightmarket account at any time. Deletion is permanent and immediate — this page explains exactly what happens, how to do it from inside the app, and a fallback for when you can't access the app.
Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (recommended)
This is the fastest path and runs the full deletion immediately.
- Open the nightmarket app and sign in.
- Tap the Profile tab (bottom right).
- Tap the gear icon in the top right to open Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Type the phrase
delete accountin the confirmation field. - Tap Delete forever and confirm in the final dialog.
You'll be signed out automatically. The deletion is irreversible — we can't restore an account once this flow completes.
Option 2 — Email request (fallback)
If you no longer have access to your phone or can't sign in, email us from the address on file or include enough info to identify your account.
- Send to: hello@nightmarketapp.com
- Subject: “Account deletion request”
- Include: your nightmarket username (e.g.
@yourhandle), the email or phone number on the account, and confirmation that you want everything deleted.
We respond within 7 days and complete the deletion within 30 days, in line with App Store + Play Store policy.
What gets deleted
Either path permanently removes everything tied to your account:
- Profile (display name, username, avatar, home city/zip).
- Phone number and email association.
- All listings and bundles you've posted (active and historical).
- Your portfolio (every card holding, cost basis, acquired dates).
- Your watchlist.
- All scans you've taken.
- All offers you've sent and received, including counter-offer history.
- Your push notification token and per-channel preferences.
- Reports you've filed and blocks you've set.
- Your Firebase Auth credential (email/password, Apple ID link, or Google account link).
What stays
A small amount of data is preserved or anonymized for safety, accounting, and other users' integrity:
- Messages you've sent. The body of each message stays in the other party's inbox, but the sender label changes to “Deleted user” and your profile becomes unlinkable. We don't scrub the other person's inbox.
- Completed trades. The trade record stays on the other party's history (it's part of their trust signal). Your name is anonymized.
- Reports filed against you. Open reports are preserved for review; closed ones are retained for our internal safety record.
- Aggregated, anonymized analytics. Counters like “number of users in the Bay Area” don't identify you and persist as part of platform metrics.
- Legal + financial records. If we have a legal obligation to retain something (e.g. CSAM-report acknowledgement to NCMEC, IRS-relevant business records), it stays for as long as the law requires.
After deletion
Your phone number and email are released back to the pool, so you can sign up again later under the same credentials if you want a fresh account. There is no waiting period, but the new account starts empty — nothing from the deleted account is restored.
